Okay, so we’re safely into May and I’m almost certain that we’re on the home strait here in the UK for good weather until at least, well, maybe August. So, I’m hankering after a picnic. I know, I know, the vision is always better than the reality, but humour me. I’m channeling a Famous Five, gingham table cloth wrapped bounty of:
- sandwiches spread thickly with extremely salty butter
- bread so crusty it’s in danger of causing an injury (see below for some filling inspiration)
- boiled eggs in some form, be that scotch eggs, egg and cress sandwiches or gala pie, whatever, just give me them
- crisps, preferably prawn cocktail, Worcestershire sauce or salt & vinegar
- scones, jam and clotted cream, must be homemade (not by me)
- pop, either ginger beer or cloudy lemonade or last year’s elderflower if I haven’t already drunk it
A side serving of coconut scented sun cream and ants too.
