A small selection of my Macro Food & Drink Photography that was created in my London studio in the UK working with top food stylists and editors.

Macro Food & Drink Photography close up macro photograph of a huge breakfast sandwich

Commercial macro photography for food and drink brands, agencies, and packaging campaigns — shot in London and Leicester.

Macro photography turns a single detail — a shard of chocolate, a droplet on a strawberry, the crumb of fresh bread — into the image that sells the whole product. As a commercial food and drink photographer, I use macro techniques to capture the texture, freshness, and appetite appeal that brands need for advertising, packaging, and digital campaigns.

Whether it’s condensation running down a chilled can, the fizz of a pour caught mid-splash, or the fine detail of spice and grain, macro work is about getting close enough that the viewer can almost taste what they’re looking at.

What macro food and drink photography is used for

  • Packaging photography — hero shots that show ingredient quality and texture at a glance
  • Advertising campaigns — close-up detail shots for billboards, digital ads, and social content
  • Drink photography — pours, splashes, condensation, and carbonation captured in sharp detail
  • Ingredient and texture shots — spices, grains, herbs, and fresh produce shot to highlight quality
  • Social and content marketing — scroll-stopping close-up imagery built for Instagram and digital feeds

How these images are made

Every macro shot starts with the right kit and the right conditions:

  • High-resolution view cameras for maximum detail and print-quality output
  • Broncolor lighting and a full grip package to control exactly where highlights and shadows fall
  • Studios in London and Leicester, fully equipped for tabletop macro and close-up production
  • An in-house editing suite for retouching that keeps texture and colour looking natural, not over-processed

Macro food work is unforgiving — every fleck, bubble, and imperfection is visible at that scale, so styling, lighting angle, and aperture all have to be exact. Most of this work is shot at narrow apertures to hold focus across the frame, with the light positioned close to the subject to compensate for the reduced exposure that comes with shooting this tight.

Who this is for

Our macro food and drink photography service is built for brands, advertising agencies, and packaging designers who need commercial-grade macro imagery — not stock photography, and not a quick phone shot. Past macro and close-up work has been produced for brands including Dolmio, Papa Johns, PepsiCo, Doritos, Ben’s Original, and GoPuff, alongside emerging brands building their identity from scratch.
