Photography Workshop in Leicester
The next photography workshop in Leicester that I will be running is going to be the first in a series focused on equipment. Rather than reading DXO sheets and reviews, we will look at ways to get the most out of your specific gear. How to subjectively review it under different circumstances so you can be sure that you are using it correctly for your style of work.
“The fact is that relatively few photographers ever master their medium. Instead, they allow the medium to master them and go on and endless squirrel cage chase from new lens to new paper to new developer to new gadget, never staying with one piece of equipment long enough to learn its full capacities, becoming lost in a maze of technical information that is of little or no use since they don’t know what to do with it.”
– Edward Weston
What will the workshop cover?
We will be looking at a lens in your kit bag and exploring how to master a single focal length.
The aim of the session is to help you understand the strengths and limitations of one peice of equipment and how to work these out. So rather than DXO scores, we will be focusing on a real world test of a lens to help us all get the most out of it.
An ideal lens for this would be a prime, but it will also work with a standard 17-40, 24-70 or 70,200 type zoom lens. I will be working with either a 35mm lens or a 85mm lens (it’s what I own).
